Abano and Montegrotto Terme have long been known as the largest “Cradle of relaxation and path to well

being” in Europe. Abano and Montegrotto are geographically located in the Heart of the Veneto region, therefore making it an ideal starting point to visit the nearby historic cities in the region, true treasures rich in art and history, culture and traditions. An example, Venice, envied by the whole world.
Furthermore, these thermal cities are at the foot of the Euganean Hills, an ideal destination for those looking either to breathe in the fresh air of the greenery and nature, go for an outdoor walk, or foray for wine tasting in one of the many local wineries.

The Euganean Hills’ historical and natural value is safeguarded by the Regional Park, which covers and protects an area of 18,694 hectares.
The Park guides offer nature excursions to view the local flora and fauna.
Many of these excursions offer the opportunity for sport and fitness at both different age and difficulty levels: in our hills 15 trekking trails meet to offer a total of 83 kms of nature to be discovered on foot or while riding a horse; for the mountain bike lovers there are the Trans-Euganean trails (a total of 148 kms of roads).

The Nordic Walk has also become popular: groups of “athletes for a day” meet on the Hills’ paths equipped with hats and rackets; escapades on horses have become an adventure one cannot afford to miss, allowing you to discover our Hills in a “different” way. The Abano horse centre offers both lessons and mini-courses at all levels, for adults but specializing in those for children.

Good news for the speed skaters on wheels: Prato della Valle in Padua, the largest circle in Europe, is destination for skaters from afternoon to late evening, who meet here to dart through this exceptional “artistic track”.

Climbers can challenge themselves at the Rocca Pendice mountain rock gym here in the Hills, offering 6 different levels of difficulty. The reckless ones can try down hill and paragliding.

Dedicated to those “over the moon”: at Casa Marina, the Euganean Hills Regional Park base camp, a series of astronomy meetings is scheduled to help you get acquainted with the celestial bodies.

For those who feel exhausted at the thought of sport and movement, the Euganean Hills are spotted with ready picnic areas; just ask your hotel for a picnic lunch and wander out in search of the spot with the best view. Some hotels will surprise you with unusual suggestions, offering to have lunch in the Hills as a guest in their agritourism offerings.

13 DOC wines come from the Hills and the Strada del Vino (Wine Road); with the Euganean Hills honey listed among the traditional products according to the Agricultural and Forestry Policies Ministry; there are 6 different native cultivations of olives and 2 oil-mills that produce the Hills’ oil; the hills also produce jujubes and jujube “broth”, plus other small fruit like pomegranates, medlars and loquats, and corbezzolo berries. These fruits are then used to produce conserves, fruit jellies, juice and syrups.

local museums recount the first settlements seen in their archaeological finds and treasures dating back the Palaeolithic age; Medieval air can be breathed among the courts, the villages and the fortifications; Venice’s dominion was witnessed by the Venetian Villas as Valsanzibio and Valnogaredo.

History can also be seen in Olivetan’s monastery remains, located on the south-east side of the Venda Mount. From here you can admire a stunning view from a height of 560 metres.
History is alive in the Praglia abbey and its library which contains around 100,000 antique books.
More art and history are available to the curious traveller in Arquà Petrarca, the medieval town so named in the honour to the poet Francesco Petrarca who lived there for the last six years of his life (his house is now a museum).

We could go on with the list of 1001 ways in which to visit, try, and taste Abano and Montegrotto and their surroundings.
Nevertheless, rather than reading, we recommend you to experience them for real!
