He’s an Abano CSI lover! The
Belgian rider has always
participated to the show jumping
right from the beginning and
throughout the years the Villa
Bassi course has given him a lot
of satisfactions.
In his CV of a rider, also a
professional horse-riding
trainer, there are many: from
the first ones, when he was 14
years old at the Italian Pony
championships, to the victory at
the 1996 Piazza di Siena small
Grand Prix and, the most recent,
second in 2001 at Norway. He
arrived at the Abano 2005 Show
Jumping with 3 horses:
11-year-old Remanso Zeta,
7-year-old Enzo Re and Cassina,
his 8-year-old grey favourite
that in 2004 came fourth at the
Cervia Grand Prix and eighth at
the Lumen CSI Big Tour proving
it was already mature enough to
approach a contest at the CSI***
level. The Rider sustains that
during these years Abano Terme
distinguished itself for its
continuous improvement both in
the organization and in the
grounds maintenance: Abano is
seriously up to a CSI***.
Especially this year, thanks to
the perfect grounds (at least on
the first day) and the
competitors high level, the
contest proved very selective
right from the beginning!
“Seeing the competitors level -
Verheyden said - the only thing
that’s certain is that the
horses will make the difference!”.
He came eighth on Cassina in the
Grand Prix.
